Thanksgiving

Her shirt says baby's first Thaksgiving and then the baby food jars say turkey, green beans and sweet potatoes
Her first "Real"" food...
Here is a picture of the blanket that Tawnya (Carson's mom) gave my mom. It is a Pendelton wool Blanket that the Church had made. They made 500 for the Church and 3 were never claimed so they were sent back to the store that Tawnya works at. I think it is really cool.

Just some cute new pictures

First time brushing her teeth... well gums

Laying on the floor watching the fights with Daddy

Carson had her laughing good the other morning.

She had a blow out at Carson's mom's the other day so I had to give her a bath. I thought she would fit in the little sink. But not so much, shee still had fun and liked it.

Irie today

So last night I went to bed at 8 cause I was super tired. Irie was about ready to go to sleep so I put her in her bed. She was good for a minute but then got fussy so I put her in bed with me since I was just reading for a few minutes anyway. Carson came in to bed and asked if Irie was going to sleep with us. I said she was ok for a little bit I would put her to bed before I fell asleep. Needless to say I fell asleep with her in our bed.I woke up less then 2 hours later, rubbed Irie's head and it was soaking wet. Got up turned the light on and this is what i found. The dark spot around her head is not shadow, it is sweat. But I like this pic cause it looks like she is praying.

Here is the sweat spot...
Then later this after noon I went in to check on her while she was sleeping and this is what I found... Again I think it is cute and I love that she is finding her fingers more and (sometomes) using the bink less.

Then we went to our wards Halloween Party here is my little Moo Cow.

She is a cow she is allowed to have "sour milk"
Happy Halloween all!!!

Still No Baby

So many people are wondering and asking if there is a baby yet. Sadly no. I am not due until Wednesday but I am so ready for baby to be here. And I know a lot of other people are ready to meet baby too. But not yet.

We were at Carson's parents last night for dinner and his 2 year old nephew heard us talking about the new baby and then he came up to my belly and started patting my tummy saying "come out baby", "Baby come out and play". Then we asked him if baby was a brother or sister, and he said "no, its baby." I thought it was really cute.

As soon as I get my head around things after baby is born I'll post a new blog with pictures. But I don't have Internet at my house just yet so it could take a little bit. But if your interested here is the tentative plan for after the baby... Carson is taking the first week off, My mom is taking the second week off and probably bringing us to her house most of the time. And then Carson's mom is taking the following week off and will be with us at my house. Visitors welcome just let me know... Oh and If you didn't know I am having baby at Willamette Falls.

More after the Baby is born. Loves

Pregnancy Photos

When I regustered at Babies R Us I was given a coupon for a free 8x10 Pregnancy photo. I went and got them taken yesterday. I thought they turned out pretty good. The girl who was taking my pictures said I was fun because everytime she said 1, 2, 3 I would giggle. I told her it was because my fake smile was horrible and if I giggled it look a little more real. Thought you might like to see the pics. Enjoy

Contractions

So yesterday was an interesting day. Carson got up for work at 2:30 which is a once a week regular thing. And I usually am at least semi awake when he is getting ready for work. But yesterday morning I just didn't feel good. I had a really bad stomach ache, which I thought was just hunger pains (again nothing uncommon). But that didn't help. So I found a comfortable spot and fell back asleep. Only to wake up at 5:30 with what felt like a huge knot in the top of my stomach so I went and took a hot shower thinking that might help. 45 minutes later no improvement. So I called my mom and told her that I didn't feel good at all. She asked what was wrong and I told her. She then said call the doctor.

So I called the doctor which at 6:15 ish in the morning is still closed. The lady that answered the phone said that she would page my doctor and if she didn't call back in 20 minutes then to call back. I grabbed a blanket and put in a movie and laid on the couch. It was almost 7 when I realized that the 20 minutes were up and still no call. I called back and told the operator that I hadn't heard from anyone. And started waiting again, realizing that I was starving I went and got some yogurt out of the fridge and waited. This time Dr. Hall called me back and asked what was going on. I told her and reminded her that I had called Monday cause I was having troubles breathing. She told me that she wanted me to come in and see her when the office opened. But I had to wait tell the office opened (8:30 ish) so I could call and have them fit me in somewhere in her schedule. Waiting I dozed off on the couch. Waking up around 8:15 and my movie was almost over and at my favorite part. Forcing my self to stay awake to watch the rest of the movie and then call the office. When I got a hold of someone they told me that they could pass the message on to one of the nurses. Figuring a call back could take some time I went back in to bed to try and rest a while longer. It was just after 9 when the nurse called back and said that she would have to talk to the Dr to see what she wanted to do, even though I had told her that Dr. Hall had said for them to fit me in some place. So I hung up and when back to sleep. She called back about 9:30 and said that the Dr did want me to come in (DUH). I told her it would take me at least 15 minutes to get in there, and she said that was fine.

I got to the doctors office and realized that I was starving. But no time for food I was already at the doctor’s office. They called me back as soon as I got there. Dr Hall came in and checked me out and said that she assumed that it was ONLY contractions. But she still wanted to hook me up to a monitor and send me for an ultra sound. They came in and hooked me up, monitoring the heartbeat and contractions. So I sat there not knowing what I was feeling, a little scared a little worried. A nurse came in and asked if it had eaten and I said no, so she brought me a juice box.

The doctor came in and said that there was some small contractions (none of the ones measured were ever close to the one that had woke me up that morning), but were still contractions, so she wanted to do a pelvic to make sure that I wasn’t dilated at all. She did that and said that my cervix was opening a teeny tiny little bit and could feel baby there. But she still wasn’t worried about me going in to labor in the next 2 weeks. But she still wanted me to go get the ultra sound just to check and make sure there was nothing wrong with my kidneys, liver or ovaries (if they could see them). But she also said the pain in my stomach could just be the scar tissue from my appendix stretching. I got dressed and went to the nurses station for my ultra sound apt. and she said the soonest they could get me in over at the hospital was at 3:00. Oh and by the way, they don’t want you eating OR drinking anything until after the apt. Yeah at this point it is not quite noon and I am starving and they just told me that I CAN NOT eat or drink anything for the next 3 hours.

Now 2:30 STARVING and it is time to go to the hospital. Luckily we got there and they got me in right at 3 and we were in the car on the way to get food by 3:30. The tech looked at my kidneys, liver. She was really nice and said that unofficially she saw nothing wrong.

Now we wait, not really knowing what all the pain was, but we are going with contractions. I had pain in my stomach off and on all day in and some to day. But none as bad as yesterday morning. And Dr. Hall wasn’t worried about me going in to labor in the next 2 week, so I guess I just have to trust my dr.

Baby has been moving a lot in the last few days and even had the hic-ups 3 times yesterday. So I’ll keep you all posted and hopefully Baby won’t be here anytime soon.

Moving Update

I hate moving and I am SO Glad that we have everything moved. Now for the unpacking.... Not as bad as packing but almost. No its not that bad I like finding new places for everything to go. We moved most of my stuff Thursday and didn't get much moved Friday. But Friday we got our lease signed and Carson slept on his friends boat to make a little extra money. Then Saturday, We helped his roommate move out to Molalla and then we got the big stuff from my house. Carson and AJ moved most of the rest of the stuff from Carson's apartment. My mom came to help and the was Huge thank you so much for that.

It was so muggy I just didn't feel good I was getting way to hot. So I got in our new shower while my mom unpacked some stuff and Carson took his parents truck and trailer back. And in taking that cold shower.... the cold felt so good... I found out that our shower head is of the devil. Anyone remember the girls camp showers, that was like the water was SHOOTING out at you and by the time you were done instead of being relaxing it felt like the water was ripping your skin off. Yeah that is our shower head. My hear was actually more tangled from the water then in was when I got in the shower. So needless to say we went to Home Depot and bought a new head.

My mom, Carson and I got the baby's room mostly put together and it is coming together rather well. Except now it has kinda became a catch all cause we don't need it at the moment. But as soon as we get more stuff put away all the catch all stuff will come out of the baby's room.

Yesterday we semi got our room put together. Bed is in where it is going to stay, dressers are in place. But closet is buried in a mountain of boxes. Clothes need to be put away but I can't get to the closet. Oh well it will happen eventually.

As soon as I find the box that has my camera in it I will take pictures and get them posted.

Anywho, can't wait to see pictures.

Those offices have been: BR&R (insurance), Acosta (food brokerage), OC tax office / Three Rivers Tax and Accounting (one in the some) Alpha Energy Savers (home weatherization), Mattress World. That is all I can think of at the moment but I am sure there are more that I can’t think of
4 Movies I've watched more than once:
1. Any Disney Movie

3. Rent
4. Moulin Rouge

Moving

I hate moving, it is just such a pain having to pack everything up. But at the same time I am so EXCITED I can barley contain my self. I am so ready for Carson and I to have our own place its not even funny. And I know it 's a dumb little thing but I am so very excited to use my dishes. I bought them when I was still in high school and with the exception of the short time I lived in Utah they have been in storage all that time.

The other thing I am super excited about is getting nursery all set up. I have I told people what my nursery theme is??? It is so cute and gender neutral. It is Called Bazooples so cute.

There are lots of fabrics that go with it at like Joann's too, there is a soft book, and so many more. I am taking the soft book panel and making it into the closet door curtains (I hate the double sliding door on closets, so I am just hanging full length curtains instead.) We have the fabric that matches the window valance and the crib bumper...
So I am going to take the animals on the front of the bumper and place them around the bottom of the plain white curtains that I bought to go over the closet, and the fabric that matches the valance and the back of the bumper on the top of the curtain. Then I am going to take the pages of the soft book and randomly place them in the middle section of the curtain....

Then hopefully I'll figure out a way to get the edges embroidered so it will have a nice finish. I think it will be cute when I am all done. Hey who knows maybe I'll actually have real pictures to put on my page instead of ones off the net.

But as much as I complain about moving I am really excited. Oh I guess it would be helpful if I said where we were moving to... I found a complex that is all duplex style so there are no stairs and no neighbors above or below us. There are neighbors on both sides of us but the dividing walls are really well insulated so we shouldn't be able to hear them. But it is a cute little complex right off of McLoughlin and Jennings. It is a 2 bedroom and meats the 2 main criteria that we wanted/needed. Someplace that would take Shotgun... Carson's 100lbs black lab that would like to think that he is a lap dog. He is great. And the apartment has washer and dryer hook-ups, which was a must. I wasn't about to move into a place that didn't at least have hook-ups. I know people do it all the time, baby and no washer dryer. But I wasn't going to do it. And as a plus it is a 2 bedroom in the middle of a row of 3 bedrooms, so it has 2 BIG extra closets for storage. One in our bedroom and one in the hall. The one in the hall is almost big enough that you could put a full size freezer in it with no problem, Big and deep. Which is good we are going to need the storage.

But my head is pounding so I am going to quit looking at the screen for now. When we get all moved in and set up I'll take pictures and post some real pictures.

Grandma's comment made me wonder...

I was at dinner the other night with my 80 something grandma and she said "That is why Melia is getting a girl." And I obviously asked why. And she replied, "Because you are craving sweets" (because I had a piece of pie for dessert). So that made me start thinking of all the wives tales that go along with pregnancy. So being bored at work I figured I could Google them and see what I found. Then they made me giggle, so I decided to blog them for everyone to enjoy. Here is what I found…..

Boy or Girl? Fact or Fiction?
Whether you believe it or not, every woman will hear some magical way to determine the sex of her child. Scientifically, the only ways to find out whether your baby will be a girl or a boy is to have an ultrasound performed sometime after the 20th week of pregnancy or, if you're having an amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling done, you can ask about your baby's sex. If you are thinking of getting pregnant and want to learn more about the latest scientific methods on this subject, take a peek at How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby.
Alternatively, you can wait until your baby is born and see for yourself. However, if you want something a bit more fun (although not necessarily very reliable), here are some old wives tales that claim to be able to determine the sex of your baby. You can try some for yourself and see if everyone is predicting the same sex for your baby.

Carrying High, Carrying Low:
The way you are carrying during your pregnancy is one of the most oft cited ways of determining the sex of your baby. The general story goes that, if you're carrying low, you're having a boy. If you are carrying high, then you must be having a girl. Science says "NO, NO, NO!" to this: the way you carry is determined by muscle and uterine tone as well as the position of your baby. But who's to say that boys don't like being lower in their mom's stomach while girls prefer a view from the top?

What Your Urine Says:
This next test to determine a baby's sex may not be for everyone, although it is very simple. Just take a sample of your urine and mix it with Drano. Depending on the color change of your urine, you will have a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, there is no consensus on what color equals which sex. So, if you do decided to try this and your urine turns bluish yellow, brownish, brown, black or blue you will be having a boy. If your urine looks more greenish brown, green, blue or doesn't change at all, then you're having a girl. But be warned: if you decide to do this test, there could be some pretty harsh fumes produced - not to mention the possibility of an explosion!.

Heartbeats:
One belief that has been around for some time, and even had some acceptance in the medical community at one point, is that the fetal heartbeat differs for boys and girls. If you're having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140. However, that pesky science has reared its little head again to say that this is complete fiction. A baby's heart rate is not affected by its sex until it is born, when a girl's heart rate will increase considerably compared with boys during labor.

Craving Something…Sweet?:
Many people believe that your cravings are caused by the sex of your baby. So, if you can't get enough chocolate, you could be having a girl. Does the idea of drinking straight lemon juice sound delicious to you? Then those sour cravings are a result of the little boy inside of you. However, if you go by the scientists, then some of them will claim that you're not even having cravings because cravings just don't exist.

Weight Gain:
Thankfully, this one doesn't refer to your weight gain. The belief is that, if your husband puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl. If he doesn't put on a pound, then you're carrying a boy.

Is Her Face Round and Full?:
Some say that the shape and fullness of your face during pregnancy can indicate your baby's sex. Every woman gains weight differently during pregnancy and every woman experiences different skin changes. If people tell you that because your face is round and rosy you are having a girl, they might be right - but it's just as likely that they are wrong!

At-Home Tests:
*Here's a test that you can do next time you change or get out of the bath. Look in the mirror at your breasts. If the right one is larger, you're having a boy! A larger left breast indicates a girl (if they're the same size, does that mean you're having one of each?).

*Hold a pendant over your hand. If the necklace swings back and forth, you're having a boy. If it is more of a circular motion, then it's a girl. This can also be done by suspending a ring on a string above your belly.

*Do you have acne? Some believe that getting acne during your pregnancy indicates you're carrying a girl. Maybe the acne is caused by twice the amount of female hormones?

*Pick up a key. If you've picked it up by the thinner end, you're having a girl. Picking it up by the bottom, rounder part means a boy is on the way. Did you pick it up by the middle? Then congratulations! You're having twins!

*Ask yourself what you think you're having. In a study that asked women with no previous knowledge about their baby's sex, the moms-to-be correctly guessed the sex of their baby 71% of the time.

Other Pregnancy Beliefs:
If you hold your arms above your head, your baby's umbilical cord will get wrapped around its head and choke it. This myth may have a spiritual basis or it may have been a way to keep women from doing anything when they were pregnant (perhaps the myth was created by an overworked mother?). However, if your baby gets caught up in its umbilical cord (which happens in about a 1/3 of births) it is because your baby was very fidgety inside of you and moved around a lot, not because of you.
Similar to this is the belief in Hawaiian tradition that pregnant women should not wear leis. This folktale believed that wearing a lei would cause the umbilical cord to wrap around the baby's head and choke it. Nowadays, most people recognize that this folktale is a little over-the-top.A pregnant woman should not take baths. This myth is routed in the belief that water can get into the vagina and thereby introduce bacteria to the baby. Scientists have proven that water does not enter a woman's vagina during a bath. In fact, baths will probably help pregnant women feel better by helping them relax.

I then found this quiz and this was what it said. I put my comments in Purple so I could put my two cents in.
You have a 34% chance of having a boy.
And you have a 65% chance of having a girl.
And Here's Why...You are carrying the extra weight out front, so it's a boy. (I have only gained 3 pounds so it is hard to tell where my extra weight is being carried.)
The hair on your legs is growing faster during pregnancy, so it's a boy.
Girls are carried high. You are going to have a girl. (This depends on the time of day sometimes baby is sitting high and other times the baby is sitting lower it is never the same)
Sleeping in a bed with your pillow to the south indicates that you will be having a girl. (I had no control over that one South is the way that Carson's bed was set up before I came along So that one I have no control over.)
Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. You are having a girl.
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. You are having a girl. (I refused to eat the heel before I was pregnant, that is nothing new, I still won't eat it.)
Dad-to-be hasn't been gaining weight along with Mom-to-be, so it will be a girl. (Are you kidding the only time Carson gains weight is when he puts his boots on and some how that isn't the kind of weight gain that they are talking about.)
The maternal grandmother doesn't have gray hair (dyed or natural), so a girl will be born. (my mom has naturally Black hair, it is graying, but it is not all gray so I don't think that this question is all that good either)
You didn't have morning sickness early in pregnancy, so it will be a boy. (I don't think this question is all that great either, because my mom wasn't sick with me and she was sick with my brother. Carson's mom was sick with him but not his sister. And his sister was sick with her son.)You are not looking particularly good during pregnancy. Therefore, it must be a girl, because girls steal their mother's looks. (Again that depends on the day, but I have been told that I don't look like I feel good when I actually feel fine.)
Your chest development has not been very dramatic during pregnancy. You should expect a boy. (My Chest development was pretty rapid in puberty years, so I don't think there is room for DRAMATIC growth now.)
Since the sum of the mother's age at conception and the number of the month of conception is an odd number, it will be a girl.
A needle on a thread held over your belly moves in circles, so you will have a boy. (I haven't actually done this one so I just picked one.)
Your urine is a bright neon yellow color, so you will have a boy. (That I have noticed tends to change with the amount of water that I have drank. If I haven't drank that much then it is brighter then if I have drank a ton that day.)
You are craving sweets, which means that it is a girl. (This is another one that depends on the day. I crave salty and sweet pretty evenly. But what I have really craved is spicy, or Mexican food. The whole 2nd trimester was spicy chicken burritos form Taco Bell, or just Mexican in general.)
Your nose hasn't changed during pregnancy, which indicates a girl.
You have been craving fruits, so it is a girl.
Your baby's heart rate is 140 or more beats per minute, so it's a girl. (Every time the doctor has told me the heart beat it has been around 150.)
You must have orange juice every day, so it's a girl. (It's not an everyday kind of thing, but I have wanted OJ more then normal.)
You are having headaches, so it's a boy. (I had headaches before too, and I don't think they are any more or less common then before I was pregnant. They maybe a little more intense then before, but not any less common.)
Your belly looks like a basketball, so it's a boy. (Today it looks more like a ball where as yesterday it looked more like a watermelon.)
You show them the palm of your hand, so it's a girl.
You use the body of the mug, so it's a girl.
So I have come to the conclusion that there just muight be something to some of the old wives tails, but not enough to paint my nursery Pink or Blue.

Pregnancy Update

That I finally get around to doing this... I know it is a shocker that it has taken me so long, but I guess I really don't have that much to report. But here goes nothing.

Ok so first things first we had our ultra sound 7 weeks ago and DID NOT find out if this baby is a boy or a girl but with the exception of 3 people (Carson included), everyone thinks this baby is a girl. I have thought it was a girl since I found out and called “her” a “she” since the beginning. So If I say “She” that is just that way I talk about my baby. And to answer the newly FAQ If this baby is a boy then I have truly given him a complex by calling him a girl for the first several months of its life. (Please don’t argue with me weather or not the last few months have been “Life” or not. Being a hormonal pregnant lady I just might freak out on you JK)

So, I am just about 26 weeks in my pregnancy and I love it. As far as typical pregnancy symptoms are concerned I really can't complain. I haven't really had any heart burn (which many have told me to watch out for, especially since I have been CRAVING mainly spicy chicken burritos from Taco bell, Or just Mexican in general.) I haven’t fully gotten used to Baby moving around, don’t get me wrong I love that too, but every once in a while it throws me for a loop. It is WEIRD, but in a cool way. Baby is moving a lot these days. Some lucky people have been able to feel her kick and move. Carson pokes at my, ever growing, stomach and gets her to start moving but then when he puts his hand on my stomach she stops moving. I think it is because he pushes to hard, but who knows.

Then there is Shotgun, Our 100 lbs black lab, he’ll come and plop down on the bed next to me and almost always the baby will start moving. I don’t know if it is a case where Shotgun plopping down next to me is enough of a jostling that it wakes her up, or if it is because she can hear Shotgun’s heart beat and that gets her excited, or maybe it is a little of both. But either way she likes Shotgun.

Another funny occurrence is, (and it has happened a couple of times now) She is totally Carson’s baby. I have been out shopping and running errands and she has been somewhere in the middle of me all day, and then We will walk into Fisherman’s or Sportsman’s, and start talking about fishing stuff and all of a sudden she is right there in front trying to push her way out. Like it starts to hurt she is pushing so hard. It makes us laugh. And about the only other time she pushes that hard on my stomach is when I am in the shower. I have started referring to her as out little water baby (Which Carson’s mom has always called Carson her water baby too, so I think it is funny).

The ONLY pregnancy thing I can complain about is I have a pinched nerve in my right hip area that causes my leg to fall asleep really easily and causes one of the muscles in the top of my butt to cramp, which is annoying. But other then that I can’t complain at all.

Other news … sort of… Baby shower… or should I say Baby Showers as of now it looks like I am having at least 3 different baby showers. One is before the baby is born, and 2 after. One of the ones after is strictly family since we both have really large extended families. But I need addresses to send out invitations. So if you would like to come I need an address. So if August rolls around and you still haven’t gotten an invite don’t fret there will be a shower after the baby is born probably sometime in September.

Ewww, the pinched nerve. Not so fun! But, as you said, things could be worse, I'm glad you are enjoying your pregnancy! Where's a preggo picture?? I can't believe you are already 26 weeks. Craziness! I'll email you my address... if I remember... if I forget, send my invite to my moms house... you still know that address right??
